I am so glad to hear and see you back together! Ian, I discovered you (and OGWN and that family of podcasts) through your appearances on The New Abnormal. I live in New York State but my husband is English, so this really mirrors the uneasy equilibrium of our household. Generally one of our countries is in slightly better shape than the other, and that combination of relief and disbelief and schadenfreude is weirdly soothing.

Oh, the Black Hole of Calcutta, Yuma Territorial prison, and many other horrible crimes prisons would surely be more punishing…

Fun. Please do it again. So much depressing stuff going on - good to hear an honest exchange of views. Why oh why are Labour not using their majority to the max? There's a chance to stake out the moral high ground & they just keep throwing vulnerable people under the bus? Aaaargh

Oh I dunno. Inasmuch as Churchill described 1939 USSR as “a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma”, the Trump regime is fairly a clusterfuck wrapped in a shitshow inside a bin-fire.

🤡rump has never concealed illegal acts. It’s always been right in the open, and we sit there and watch it happen. I don’t understand. Congress is not needed if you have a king. Either stand up now, or you won’t have a job. The king does not require a Congress; let that sink in.

Tim Snyder coined the term 'sadopopulism' well before Trump's second term and now it's US policy.

The number of people that the ballroom is to be able to hold (999) is the same number of rooms in the Forbidden City in Beijing, China. Hmmm

Canada has made a hard turn away from Immigration. Ask Ali Velshi, Charlie Angus, Naomi Klein.

Could we add Canada somewhere in this or future conversations
